Euminz

Euminz is a topical medicinal product containing a 10% ethanolic solution of peppermint oil, primarily used for the acute treatment of episodic tension-type headaches (ETTH). The formulation is applied to the forehead and temples, where its primary active constituent, menthol, exerts analgesic effects. The mechanism of action involves the stimulation of cold-sensitive receptors (TRPM8) via calcium channel modulation, leading to a cooling sensation and a reduction in pain sensitivity. Additionally, it inhibits smooth muscle contractions induced by serotonin and substance P and enhances local skin blood flow. Clinical studies, including those conducted by Charité University, have demonstrated that Euminz provides efficacy comparable to standard oral analgesics such as paracetamol and acetylsalicylic acid, and it is licensed for use in adults and children aged six and older.
