Overview

Eupatorium capillifolium pollen is an allergenic extract derived from the pollen of the dog fennel plant. It is classified as a non-standardized biologic product and is used for both the diagnosis and treatment of allergies to this specific pollen. [2, 5, 6] For diagnosis, it is administered as part of a skin test to identify clinical sensitivity in a patient. For treatment, it is used in allergen immunotherapy (also known as hyposensitization), where gradually increasing doses of the extract are administered via subcutaneous injection. This process helps the immune system build tolerance to the allergen, reducing the severity of allergic reactions over time. [4] The product is marketed by several companies, including ALK-Abello, Inc., Jubilant Hollisterstier LLC, and Greer Laboratories, Inc.
