Euphorbia tirucalli latex (ETL) is a natural botanical extract derived from the succulent plant *Euphorbia tirucalli*, commonly known as 'aveloz.' It is a complex mixture containing triterpenes (such as euphol, taraxasterol, and tirucallol) and diterpene esters, including ingenol 3-esters. ETL has a long history of use in ethnopharmacology for treating conditions such as tumors, warts, rheumatism, and asthma. Modern research, primarily conducted by Brazilian academic institutions like the Federal University of Espirito Santo, has focused on its antineoplastic potential. The extract's active diterpenes, specifically ingenol 3-esters, exhibit high affinity for the C1b domain of protein kinase C delta (PKCδ), modulating signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation and apoptosis. While ETL has shown efficacy in preclinical models of melanoma and lung metastasis, its use is also associated with potential nephrotoxicity.
