Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EUR NEFFY is a needle-free nasal spray formulation of **epinephrine (adrenaline)** developed for the emergency treatment of severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, in adults and children weighing 30 kg or more. It is the first approved intranasal epinephrine product and offers an alternative to auto-injectors, addressing issues such as needle phobia and portability. The medication works by rapidly activating alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors, counteracting the symptoms of anaphylaxis (e.g., low blood pressure, airway constriction) and restoring hemodynamic stability. EUR NEFFY's development included numerous clinical studies demonstrating pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles comparable to injected epinephrine, with a safety profile similar to established forms. It contains three components: epinephrine, the absorption enhancer dodecylmaltoside (Intravail A3), and a unit-dose spray device. The product’s stability and longer shelf life support improved patient compliance and accessibility[1][3][4][5][7].
