Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Eurycoma longifolia extract, commonly known as Tongkat Ali or Longjack, is a botanical extract derived from the roots of the Eurycoma longifolia tree native to Southeast Asia. It is widely used as a dietary supplement and nutraceutical for its aphrodisiac, pro-fertility, and ergogenic properties. Standardized extracts, such as Physta and LJ100, have been co-developed by the Malaysian Government and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and are commercialized by Biotropics Malaysia. The extract is primarily investigated and used for male sexual health, late-onset hypogonadism, and male infertility, where it is believed to support endogenous testosterone production and improve sperm parameters.
