Eutha 77

Eutha 77 is a veterinary euthanasia solution manufactured by Virbac AH, Inc., specifically indicated for the humane and rapid euthanasia of dogs. It is a combination of two active ingredients: pentobarbital sodium (390 mg/mL) and phenytoin sodium (50 mg/mL). Pentobarbital sodium is a barbiturate that acts as a potent central nervous system depressant, targeting the medullary respiratory and vasomotor centers to induce deep anesthesia followed by respiratory arrest. Phenytoin sodium provides complementary cardiotoxic effects, accelerating the cessation of the heart's electrical activity. The formulation is a non-sterile intravenous solution containing rhodamine B dye as a visual safety indicator and benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostat. Its use is restricted to licensed veterinarians and is strictly prohibited in animals intended for human consumption.
