Overview

EV25 is a bispecific small molecule immunotherapy developed by Eradivir for the treatment of influenza. Built on technology from Philip Low’s lab at Purdue University, EV25 operates via a dual mechanism of action. It binds and inhibits viral neuraminidase expressed on both free virus particles and virus-infected cells, thereby blocking viral replication. Simultaneously, it delivers an immunogenic payload (containing haptens or semi-antigens) to the surface of infected cells and viruses, recruiting naturally occurring anti-hapten antibodies to promote rapid immune-mediated clearance of both the virus and infected cells. This approach enables faster reduction in viral load compared to current standard-of-care therapies, lowers pro-inflammatory markers, protects against lung damage caused by influenza infection, reduces risk of drug resistance, and requires only a single intranasal dose with an extended window for efficacy up to 96 hours post-infection. Preclinical studies have shown superior efficacy over existing treatments across multiple flu strains—including those resistant to current drugs—and clinical trials are ongoing[1][2][3][4][5][6][7].
