EV71-CA16 bivalent HFMD vaccine

The EV71-CA16 bivalent HFMD vaccine is an inactivated viral vaccine being developed by AIM Honesty (AIM Vaccine Co., Ltd.) and its subsidiaries, AIM Kanghuai Biopharmaceutical and AIM Convac. This bivalent vaccine is designed to simultaneously target enterovirus 71 (EV71) and coxsackievirus A16 (CA16), which are the primary pathogens responsible for Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) in children. The vaccine works by introducing inactivated viral antigens to stimulate the production of neutralizing antibodies and elicit cell-mediated immune responses. The development includes formulations using both standard cell culture and human diploid cells (HDC) as substrates. As of October 2022, the vaccine candidate received clinical trial approval from China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).
