**evacetrapib + pravastatin** is a combination of two distinct cholesterol-modifying agents used in research for treating dyslipidemia and cardiovascular risk. **Evacetrapib** is a small molecule inhibitor of cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP), leading to increased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and reduced low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). **Pravastatin** is a statin (hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase inhibitor) that lowers LDL-C by reducing hepatic cholesterol synthesis. The combination was investigated to determine if concurrent CETP inhibition and statin therapy could further improve lipid parameters and cardiovascular outcomes compared to statin alone. While the combination was shown to have additive effects on raising HDL-C and lowering LDL-C and other atherogenic lipoproteins, large clinical trials did not demonstrate a reduction in major cardiovascular events with evacetrapib (alone or in combination), and development was discontinued[1][2][3][5].
