Overview

EVDx-501 is a human monoclonal antibody candidate developed by EVDx, Inc. for the treatment and prevention of Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) infection and its associated neurological complication, Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM). EVDx-501 was identified from the B cells of convalescent patients and is designed to bind with high affinity to the viral capsid protein (specifically the VP1 subunit). This binding neutralizes the viral particles, preventing them from infecting host cells and potentially halting the progression of paralysis in AFM. The antibody has demonstrated strong protective efficacy in preclinical animal models and is currently being advanced toward clinical trials to address the lack of specific therapies for EV-D68.
