Overview

EVEGYN is a single-dose vaginal ovule fixed-dose combination of **fenticonazole nitrate 600 mg**, **tinidazole 1,000 mg**, and **lidocaine 100 mg** developed by Exeltis for infectious vaginitis. Fenticonazole is an imidazole antifungal that inhibits fungal lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase and thereby disrupts ergosterol synthesis; tinidazole is a nitroimidazole antimicrobial and antiprotozoal agent that produces reactive metabolites causing microbial DNA damage; and lidocaine provides local anesthetic relief by reversibly blocking voltage-gated sodium channels. Clinical studies have evaluated the formulation for bacterial vaginosis, candidal vulvovaginitis, trichomonal vaginitis, and mixed vaginal infections.
