This combination is an **immunosuppressive regimen** primarily used in organ transplantation, especially kidney and liver transplant recipients, to prevent acute organ rejection. It consists of everolimus, a mammalian target of rapamycin (**mTOR**) inhibitor; mycophenolate sodium (the enteric-coated salt form of mycophenolic acid, an **inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase inhibitor**); and corticosteroids, a broad class of anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive agents. Everolimus suppresses T cell activation and proliferation by inhibiting mTOR, a kinase involved in cell-cycle progression. Mycophenolate sodium blocks de novo guanosine nucleotide synthesis in lymphocytes, reducing lymphocyte proliferation. Corticosteroids modulate multiple pro-inflammatory genes and cytokines, further dampening immune responses. This combination is designed to provide potent immunosuppression while minimizing nephrotoxicity compared to regimens based on calcineurin inhibitors[1][2].
