Evimar-13

Evimar-13 is a 13-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine developed and manufactured by Incepta Vaccines in Bangladesh. It is designed to provide active immunization against invasive disease and pneumonia caused by 13 specific serotypes of *Streptococcus pneumoniae*: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 9V, 14, 18C, 19A, 19F, and 23F. The vaccine consists of purified capsular polysaccharides from these serotypes, each individually conjugated to a tetanus toxoid carrier protein to enhance immunogenicity, particularly in young children. Approved for use in individuals from 6 weeks to 65 years of age, Evimar-13 is administered as an intramuscular injection. Launched in January 2024, it represents the first locally produced pneumococcal conjugate vaccine in Bangladesh, addressing a significant public health need for preventing pneumococcal infections across all age groups.
