Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Eviprostat N is a phytotherapeutic combination product developed by Pharmazeutische Fabrik Evers & Co. GmbH for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and associated lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). The formulation consists of plant-derived extracts from *Chimaphila umbellata* (pipsissewa), *Populus tremula* (aspen), *Pulsatilla pratensis* (pasqueflower), and *Equisetum arvense* (horsetail), along with purified wheat germ oil. It functions as a non-hormonal and non-neuropharmacological agent, exerting its therapeutic effects through antioxidant and anti-inflammatory pathways. Specifically, it is thought to mitigate oxidative stress and prostatic inflammation, which are key contributors to the progression of BPH. The product has a long history of clinical use in Germany and Japan and has been evaluated in Phase 4 clinical trials to assess its efficacy in improving the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) in patients with moderate LUTS.
