Evitar (l-alanyl-l-glutamine) is a dipeptide drug candidate developed by Temple Therapeutics BV for the prevention of postoperative fibrosis and surgical adhesions, specifically pelvic adhesions following procedures such as laparoscopic myomectomy. Administered as an intraperitoneal bolus dose at the time of surgery, the drug modulates key upstream inflammatory mediators that promote abnormal healing and tissue fibrosis, including Hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha (HIF1-α) and Type 1 Collagen. Clinical data from a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled proof-of-concept trial demonstrated that intraperitoneal administration significantly reduced the incidence, severity, and extent of post-operative adhesions, with 93% of patients achieving a complete absence of adhesions at all abdominal sites. The candidate is currently described as phase-3-ready for the prevention of postoperative complications such as pain, infertility, and bowel obstruction.
