Evopep-D octreotide

Evopep-D octreotide is an oral formulation of the somatostatin analog octreotide, developed by Bhami's Research Laboratory using its proprietary Evopep-D delivery platform. Octreotide is a synthetic peptide that mimics natural somatostatin, binding with high affinity to somatostatin receptors, particularly SSTR2 and SSTR5. By activating these receptors, it inhibits the secretion of growth hormone (GH) and various gastrointestinal hormones. The Evopep-D platform is designed to overcome the challenges of oral peptide delivery, such as enzymatic degradation and poor intestinal permeability, potentially providing a non-invasive alternative to the standard-of-care injectable formulations for the treatment of acromegaly and carcinoid syndrome. The drug is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
