Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EvoTears is a water-free, preservative-free ophthalmic lubricant developed by Ursapharm in partnership with Novaliq for the treatment of evaporative dry eye disease. Its active ingredient is perfluorohexyloctane, a semi-fluorinated alkane that acts as a physical lipid layer replacement. Upon application, it forms a thin, protective film over the tear film, stabilizing the lipid phase and preventing the evaporation of the underlying aqueous layer. Unlike traditional eye drops, it contains no water, preservatives, or emulsifiers, and it received CE mark approval as a medical device in 2013.
