EVX-B2

EVX-B2 is a preclinical-stage prophylactic vaccine candidate designed to prevent gonorrhea, a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium *Neisseria gonorrhoeae*. Developed by Evaxion using its proprietary AI-Immunology™ platform, EVX-B2 targets highly conserved *N. gonorrhoeae* antigens involved in bacterial cell division, with a proposed bactericidal mechanism that disrupts cell division. The vaccine is being developed in two modalities: a multi-component protein-based vaccine and an mRNA-based vaccine, the latter in collaboration with Afrigen Biologics. In December 2025, MSD (Merck & Co.) declined to exercise its option to license the protein-based version of EVX-B2, leaving Evaxion with full global rights to the program.
