EVX-V1 is a synthetic, multi-component vaccine candidate under preclinical development for the prevention of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections. Developed by Evaxion Biotech in collaboration with ExpreS2ion Biotechnologies, it leverages antigens identified using Evaxion’s proprietary AI-Immunology™ platform. The vaccine includes a novel prefusion glycoprotein B (gB) antigen designed to induce both B and T cell responses and neutralize CMV. The approach aims to provide broader protection than traditional vaccines by targeting multiple viral antigens simultaneously. As of June 2025, no approved CMV vaccines exist; EVX-V1 is being developed primarily for immunocompromised individuals and populations at risk of congenital CMV infection[1][3][4][7].
