Overview

Ex Vivo-Activated Lymph Node Lymphocytes (X-ACT) is a cell therapy designed for the treatment of melanoma. It involves the extraction of a patient's own lymph node(s) located near a melanoma tumor. T cells from these lymph nodes are then activated and expanded outside the body (ex-vivo) using agents like anti-CD3/anti-CD28 microbeads and recombinant human interleukin-2. The activated T cells are subsequently injected back into the same patient intravenously with the aim of stimulating the patient's immune system to recognize and destroy melanoma cells.
