EX02 is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy designed to target the Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2, also known as ERBB2). Developed by Chengdu Egret Pharmaceutical Technology in collaboration with West China Hospital, EX02 is uniquely positioned to treat both HER2-expressing solid tumors and specific hematological malignancies. While HER2 is a traditional target in solid cancers such as pancreatic and biliary tract cancers, EX02 is also being evaluated for relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML), where a subset of patients exhibits HER2 expression. The therapy involves genetic modification of a patient's T cells to express a CAR that recognizes HER2, followed by re-infusion after lymphodepleting chemotherapy. In solid tumor applications, it is being investigated via multiple administration routes, including intravenous, intratumoral, and intraperitoneal delivery, to enhance local efficacy and T-cell infiltration into the tumor microenvironment.
