Overview

EX14280 is a CNS-penetrant small molecule inhibitor of Fatty Acid Amide Hydrolase (FAAH) being developed by Exxel Pharma. By inhibiting FAAH, the enzyme responsible for the degradation of the endocannabinoid anandamide, EX14280 increases anandamide levels in the brain, thereby enhancing endocannabinoid signaling. This mechanism is intended to address neurological and psychiatric conditions, specifically Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The drug is currently in the preclinical stage of development and is distinguished from peripherally restricted FAAH inhibitors by its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier.
