Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Excipial U hydrolotion is a topical moisturizing lotion formulated as an oil-in-water emulsion containing 2% urea and approximately 11% lipids. It is designed for the care of normal to slightly dry or sensitive skin and can also be used in conditions such as seborrheic skin, eczema, psoriasis, ichthyosis, and atopic dermatitis. The key active ingredient, urea, acts as a humectant and mild keratolytic agent—binding moisture in the stratum corneum (outermost layer of the skin), improving hydration by breaking down protein bonds to release amino acids within the skin barrier. This enhances both moisture retention and barrier function while providing a cooling effect upon application. The product absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue and does not promote comedone formation. It is suitable for daily use on body or face by adults and children[2][4][5][6][8].
