Overview

ExEm Foam is an ultrasound contrast agent indicated for sonographic assessment of fallopian tube patency in women with known or suspected infertility. The product is supplied as a kit containing ExEm Gel (composed of glycerin and hydroxyethyl cellulose) and ExEm Water (purified water). When the two components are mixed, they form a stable, highly echogenic foam. During a Hysterosalpingo-Foam Sonography (HyFoam) procedure, the foam is infused into the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes, where its high echogenicity allows for clear visualization of tubal flow and patency using transvaginal ultrasound. It provides a less invasive alternative to traditional hysterosalpingography (HSG) or laparoscopy for the initial evaluation of tubal factor infertility.
