Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of exemestane, an aromatase inhibitor, and ganitumab, a fully human monoclonal antibody targeting insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1R). This combination was investigated for the treatment of hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer, particularly in postmenopausal women with advanced disease. The rationale was to enhance endocrine therapy efficacy by simultaneously targeting the IGF-1R signaling pathway, which is involved in cancer cell survival and proliferation.
