Overview

This product is a **combination** of three active pharmaceutical ingredients: **exenatide**, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist used to improve glycemic control in type 2 diabetes; **ethinyl estradiol**, a synthetic estrogen widely used in combined oral contraceptives and hormone therapy; and **levonorgestrel**, a synthetic progestin also used in combination with estrogens in oral contraceptives and other hormonal therapies. Exenatide stimulates insulin secretion and reduces glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner, slows gastric emptying, and may promote weight loss. Ethinyl estradiol acts as an estrogen receptor agonist, regulating the transcription of estrogen-dependent genes, while levonorgestrel functions mainly as a progestogen receptor agonist, suppressing ovulation and modifying cervical mucus to inhibit sperm penetration. The combination of ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel is primarily indicated for contraception, while exenatide is for glycemic control in diabetes. No approved or marketed pharmaceutical product is known to combine all three ingredients together.
