Exocarpium Citri Rubrum, known in Chinese as Hua Ju Hong, is a traditional Chinese medicine derived from the dried outer peel of the nearly ripe fruit of *Citrus grandis* (L.) Osbeck var. *tomentosa* Hort. or *Citrus grandis* (L.) Osbeck. It is primarily utilized for its antitussive, expectorant, and digestive properties. The herb contains high concentrations of flavonoids, particularly naringin, which are thought to contribute to its ability to resolve phlegm and alleviate cough. It is commonly prescribed for respiratory conditions characterized by excessive mucus production and for gastrointestinal discomfort such as bloating and indigestion.
