Overview

This is a combination formulation consisting of **exosomes**, **Ecklonia cava extract**, and **Thuja orientalis extract**. The drug is under investigation primarily for the treatment of **androgenetic alopecia** (male pattern hair loss). - **Exosomes** are small extracellular vesicles derived from cells that serve as carriers of molecular signals and growth factors. In the context of alopecia treatment, exosomes act as cell-free agents to promote hair follicle regeneration and recalibrate the hair growth cycle, stimulating hair follicles to transition from dormant to active growth phases[1][3][5]. - **Ecklonia cava extract** is derived from a marine brown alga and is rich in bioactive compounds, notably **phlorotannins** and **fucoidans**, with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It reduces oxidative stress in dermal papilla cells, inhibits androgen-induced TGF-β1, and suppresses **5α-reductase** activity, lowering dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels—a key driver in hair loss[1]. - **Thuja orientalis extract** is derived from the leaves of the medicinal plant T. orientalis. It has been shown to promote the proliferation and regeneration of hair follicles by activating the **β-catenin** and **Sonic hedgehog (Shh)** signaling pathways, encouraging transition into the anagen (growth) phase[1][6]. The combination has been evaluated in a randomized controlled clinical trial that demonstrated significant efficacy for hair regrowth and improvement in hair density in males with Norwood grades 2–3 androgenetic alopecia when compared to placebo[1][5]. The product is still investigational and not yet approved for marketing.
