Expanded allogeneic adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ASCs) are an investigational cell therapy developed by **Grupo Dermatologico Y Estetico Pedro Jaen S.A.** for the treatment of inflammatory and degenerative conditions, most notably **abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)**. These cells are harvested from the adipose tissue of healthy donors and expanded in vitro under GMP conditions to reach therapeutic doses. The therapeutic mechanism in AAA involves the cells' ability to home to sites of vascular injury and exert potent immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects through paracrine signaling. By secreting a variety of cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors, these cells aim to polarize macrophages from a pro-inflammatory M1 phenotype to an anti-inflammatory M2 phenotype, reduce the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-alpha and IL-6, and downregulate matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) that contribute to aortic wall degradation. This multi-targeted approach is intended to stabilize the aortic wall and slow or halt the expansion of the aneurysm.
