ExPEC10V

ExPEC10V is a 10-valent bioconjugate vaccine designed to prevent invasive disease caused by extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC) in adults aged 60 years and older. The vaccine contains O-antigen polysaccharides from ten prevalent E. coli serotypes (O1A, O2, O4, O6A,O8,O15,O16,O18A,O25B,and O75), each conjugated to a genetically detoxified exotoxin A carrier protein derived from Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Its mechanism of action is immunostimulation via induction of antigen-specific antibodies against the targeted E. coli serotypes. Developed initially by Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a Johnson & Johnson company), as of April 2023 it is in phase 3 clinical trials for the prevention of invasive E. coli disease in older adults[1][2][6][7]. Sanofi has entered into an agreement with Janssen to co-develop and commercialize the vaccine globally[8].
