Overview

ExPlas is an investigational blood product, specifically 'exercised blood plasma', currently being evaluated in a clinical trial for patients with early symptomatic Alzheimer's disease. The treatment involves infusions of ExPlas, with the hypothesis that it may improve cognitive function or slow disease progression by 'thinning out' a 'poor' signaling environment in the blood. The ongoing study is a randomized, double-blinded trial comparing ExPlas to commercial blood plasma (Octaplasma) and saline (placebo).
