Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Extended-release carvedilol sulfate is a long-acting formulation of carvedilol, a third-generation, non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist and alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist. Developed by Jiangsu HengRui Medicine Co., Ltd., this formulation is designed for once-daily oral administration to treat mild to moderate primary hypertension. By blocking beta-1, beta-2, and alpha-1 receptors, it reduces heart rate and myocardial contractility while inducing peripheral vasodilation, thereby effectively lowering systemic blood pressure. The extended-release profile is intended to improve patient compliance and provide stable therapeutic effects over a 24-hour period compared to immediate-release formulations.
