Exxenterol

Exxenterol is a plant-derived fiber extract developed by Exxentia Grupo Fitoterapéutico, S.A. (Spain), derived from the carob bean (*Ceratonia siliqua*). It is composed of approximately 90% insoluble fiber and 80% insoluble polyphenols. Classified as a phytotherapeutic or nutraceutical product, it is primarily indicated for the reduction of serum total and LDL cholesterol levels in adults with moderate hypercholesterolemia. The product's mechanism of action is attributed to the cholesterol-lowering properties of its insoluble dietary fiber and polyphenol content, which are believed to interfere with cholesterol absorption or metabolism. It has been evaluated in a Phase 2 dose-finding clinical trial in Spain to establish the optimal therapeutic dose for cholesterol reduction.
