Overview

EYC-0305 (TransCon aVEGF) is a long-acting anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) biologic being developed by Eyconis Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and other retinal diseases. The drug utilizes Ascendis Pharma's proprietary TransCon (Transient Conjugation) technology, which involves a prodrug system where an anti-VEGF moiety is linked to a carrier (typically PEG) via a specialized linker. This platform is designed to provide a sustained release of the active, unmodified drug into the vitreous, potentially extending the dosing interval to every six months (24 weeks). By inhibiting VEGF, EYC-0305 aims to suppress the abnormal angiogenesis and vascular permeability that drive vision loss in retinal disorders. Eyconis was formed as a spin-out from Ascendis Pharma specifically to advance this and other ophthalmology assets.
