Overview

Eyeclopin (DWP DE-2301) is an ophthalmic solution containing 0.4% pilocarpine hydrochloride, developed by Daewoo Pharma for the treatment of presbyopia. As a cholinergic muscarinic agonist, it primarily targets the M3 muscarinic receptors in the iris sphincter muscle. Activation of these receptors induces miosis (pupillary constriction), which creates a pinhole effect that increases the depth of focus, thereby improving near visual acuity in adults with age-related farsightedness. Eyeclopin was approved by the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) in December 2023, providing a lower-concentration alternative to other pilocarpine-based presbyopia treatments such as Vuity (1.25%).
