Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EYN-1601 is a pharmaceutical ophthalmic formulation of phenylephrine 10% delivered via a microdosing device (Optejet, developed by Eyenovia) for the induction of mydriasis (pupil dilation) in the context of ophthalmic procedures. The drug uses a high-precision piezo-ejection microdroplet system, which enables delivery of a small volume (~7–8 µL) of the mydriatic agent, phenylephrine, directly to the eye. The clinical studies have demonstrated comparable efficacy and safety to standard phenylephrine eyedrops, with the advantages of potentially reduced systemic absorption and improved tolerability due to lower delivered dose and preservative content. Developed and tested primarily for procedural mydriasis[1][5][7][8].
