Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EYP-651 is an orally administered, small molecule drug under development by Enyo Pharma for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD), non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH, also referred to as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis or MASH) in patients with renal impairment, and diabetic kidney disease. It acts as a highly specific agonist of the farnesoid X receptor (FXR), a bile acid nuclear receptor involved in regulating bile acid homeostasis, lipid metabolism, inflammation, and fibrosis. By activating FXR and modulating mitochondrial NEET proteins, EYP-651 is designed to exert anti-inflammatory and fibrolytic effects that may slow or reverse progression of kidney diseases characterized by inflammation and fibrosis. The drug is considered a "fast follower" to vonafexor (EYP001), another FXR agonist from Enyo Pharma[1][2][3][4][5][6][8].
