Overview

EYS606 is a non-viral gene therapy developed for the treatment of non-infectious uveitis (NIU), including chronic and autoimmune forms. It consists of a proprietary plasmid encoding a soluble anti-tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) fusion protein, delivered into the ciliary muscle of the eye using Eyevensys’ EyeCET electrotransfection technology. This approach enables local, sustained production of an anti-TNFα therapeutic protein within ocular tissues, aiming to reduce intraocular inflammation and obviate the need for repeated systemic or intravitreal injections. The encoded fusion protein links the soluble TNFα p55 receptor 1 to a human IgG1 Fc domain, acting as a TNFα inhibitor. Clinical trials have shown promising results in improving visual acuity and reducing macular edema in patients with NIU[1][3][5][6][8].
