EYS611 (also known as PST-611) is a non-viral gene therapy developed for the treatment of geographic atrophy (GA) secondary to dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and retinitis pigmentosa. The therapy utilizes a proprietary electrotransfection system to deliver DNA plasmids into the ciliary muscle of the eye. This approach turns the ciliary muscle into a "biofactory" for the sustained production and secretion of human transferrin into the vitreous. Transferrin acts as a potent iron chelator, reducing iron-mediated oxidative stress and protecting retinal cells from degeneration. Originally developed by Eyevensys, the program was transitioned to PulseSight Therapeutics in 2024.
