Overview

Ezeprogind (AZP2006) is an orally bioavailable small molecule neurotrophic inducer with potent neuroprotective properties. It acts primarily as a progranulin/prosaposin modulator, stabilizing the prosaposin-progranulin complex to increase levels of the neurotrophic factor progranulin in the brain. This mechanism promotes neuronal survival, enhances lysosomal function, reduces tau hyperphosphorylation, mitigates neuroinflammation by decreasing pro-inflammatory cytokines (such as IL‑1β and IL‑6), and supports synaptogenesis. Ezeprogind is being developed for progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a rare tauopathy, and has also been investigated for Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. The drug was developed by AlzProtect[1][2][4][5][6].
