Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ezerrosu (also spelled Ezerosu) is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) small molecule therapy developed by Shin Poong Pharmaceutical for the treatment of hyperlipidemia. It consists of two active ingredients: ezetimibe and rosuvastatin. Ezetimibe acts by inhibiting the Niemann-Pick C1-like 1 (NPC1L1) protein in the small intestine, thereby reducing the absorption of dietary and biliary cholesterol. Rosuvastatin is a statin that competitively inhibits 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in hepatic cholesterol synthesis. The combination provides a synergistic effect in lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and is approved for use in South Korea.
