Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ezetimibe + rosuvastatin calcium is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) oral therapy consisting of ezetimibe, a selective cholesterol absorption inhibitor, and rosuvastatin calcium, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin). Ezetimibe targets the Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) transporter in the small intestine to reduce dietary and biliary cholesterol absorption. Rosuvastatin inhibits the rate-limiting enzyme in hepatic cholesterol synthesis. This dual mechanism provides complementary lipid-lowering effects, primarily used for treating hypercholesterolemia and familial hypercholesterolemia. Beijing Hanmi Pharmaceutical is developing this FDC as a generic version of the branded product Rosuzet.
