Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This investigational live attenuated mumps vaccine, developed by Changchun Keygen Biological Products Co., Ltd., utilizes F-genotype mumps virus strains (specifically QBB-2BS-3.2 and QBB-2BS-9.3). The strains were isolated from clinical throat swabs of mumps patients in China and adapted through passage and plaque purification in 2BS human diploid cells. The vaccine is designed to provide better protection against the predominantly circulating genotype F mumps virus in mainland China, addressing the mismatch found with traditional genotype A vaccine strains like S79 or WM84. In preclinical models, the vaccine candidates have demonstrated robust immunogenicity, eliciting strong neutralizing antibody and cell-mediated immune responses, with a safety profile showing minimal neurotoxicity comparable to established vaccine strains.
