F18-NKO-035 is a novel cancer-specific positron emission tomography (PET) imaging probe developed by J-Pharma Co., Ltd. It specifically targets the L-type amino acid transporter 1 (LAT1), also known as SLC7A5, which is highly expressed in various malignant tumors to facilitate the increased uptake of essential amino acids required for rapid cell proliferation. By incorporating the radioactive isotope fluorine-18 (18F), the probe enables non-invasive visualization and quantification of LAT1 activity in vivo. This diagnostic tool is intended to assist in the identification of LAT1-positive tumors, potentially serving as a companion diagnostic for LAT1-targeted therapies such as nanvuranlat (JPH203). Clinical development has focused on evaluating its safety, biodistribution, and radiation dosimetry in healthy volunteers and cancer patients.
