Drug intelligence / Profile preview
F18-PSMA (Fluorine-18 labeled prostate-specific membrane antigen) refers to a class of radiolabeled small-molecule targeting ligands used as diagnostic imaging agents in positron emission tomography (PET) scans. These agents specifically bind to prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), a type II transmembrane glycoprotein that is highly overexpressed on the surface of prostate cancer cells. By incorporating the positron-emitting radioisotope fluorine-18 (18F), F18-PSMA tracers allow for high-resolution, sensitive visualization of primary and metastatic prostate cancer lesions, including pelvic lymph nodes and bone metastases. This class includes several specific diagnostic agents such as 18F-DCFPyL (piflufolastat F-18), 18F-PSMA-1007, and 18F-rhPSMA-7.3 (flotufolastat F-18), which are widely utilized for the initial staging of high-risk prostate cancer and the localization of biochemical recurrence.
