Overview
F2B22C is a small molecule inhibitor of fungal dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) developed by F2G. It belongs to the orotomide class, a novel group of antifungal agents that selectively target the de novo pyrimidine biosynthesis pathway in filamentous fungi. F2B22C has been primarily used in preclinical research to demonstrate the efficacy of the orotomide scaffold against Aspergillus species and to study the molecular basis of DHODH inhibition. While it served as an important lead in the development of the class, the related compound olorofim (F901318) has progressed further into clinical development.
