Overview

F3 peptide is a tumor-homing peptide that shows strong and specific binding and internalization into tumor cells, particularly by targeting surface-expressed nucleolin, a DNA/RNA binding protein overexpressed on the surface of cancer and proliferating endothelial cells[1][3][5][6]. Its primary mechanism is the selective delivery of conjugated payloads—such as toxins (gelonin, Saporin), radiotracers, nanoparticles, or imaging agents—into cancer cells via nucleolin-mediated internalization, resulting in cytotoxicity or targeted imaging[1][3][5][6]. It has been used as a carrier for anti-cancer drug delivery, radiodiagnostics for PET/SPECT imaging, and targeted nanoparticle therapy in preclinical models for various tumors including glioblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, and peritoneal carcinomatosis[1][3][5][6]. F3 peptide is developed and used primarily in academic and preclinical research settings.
