Drug intelligence / Profile preview
F598 is a fully human IgG1 monoclonal antibody developed by Alopexx Pharmaceuticals for the prevention and treatment of bacterial infections. It targets poly-N-acetylglucosamine (PNAG), a conserved surface polysaccharide expressed on a wide range of microbial pathogens including Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, and protozoan parasites. By binding to PNAG on microbial surfaces and in biofilms, F598 mediates opsonic killing of PNAG-producing microbes such as *Streptococcus pneumoniae*, *Staphylococcus aureus*, and other organisms responsible for serious infections including those resistant to antibiotics. The antibody acts as a surface antigen inhibitor providing immediate protective immunity after administration—making it suitable for use in high-risk settings like intensive care units or post-surgical infection prevention. Clinical trials have shown that F598 is well-tolerated with a long half-life (20–30 days), allowing sustained protection following single infusion[1][2][5][6][7].
