F8IL9F8 is an immunocytokine composed of the cytokine Interleukin-9 (IL9) fused to the F8 antibody, which specifically targets the extra-domain A (EDA) of fibronectin. The EDA domain is an isoform of fibronectin that is virtually absent in healthy adult tissues but highly expressed during tissue remodeling, angiogenesis, and in the stroma of many solid tumors. In the context of pulmonary hypertension (PH), EDA-fibronectin is upregulated in the pulmonary vasculature and the right ventricular myocardium. F8IL9F8 is designed to deliver IL9 selectively to these diseased tissues to modulate the local immune environment and potentially reverse cardiovascular remodeling. Pre-clinical research has shown that F8IL9F8 can reduce pulmonary arterial pressure and right ventricular hypertrophy in animal models of PH, and it has also demonstrated some growth-inhibitory effects in murine cancer models.
