Overview

FAB117-HC is an allogeneic cell therapy candidate developed by Ferrer for the treatment of acute traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI). The active ingredient, HC016, consists of adult mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from human adipose tissue. These cells undergo a specialized expansion process and are pulsed with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) prior to administration. This pre-conditioning step is intended to enhance the cells' resilience and therapeutic potency, potentially improving their neuroprotective and regenerative effects within the inflammatory environment of an acute spinal injury. FAB117-HC is administered via a single intramedullary injection into the spinal cord lesion to promote functional recovery and mitigate secondary damage following trauma.
